Introduction to the case
Sexual assault and rape are sensitive issues that have affected so many people. Some of the victims come out to speak about what happened to them, others” are ashamed of speaking up, while some feel that they will not be believed. Most sexual abusers and rapists end up not paying for their crimes. Today a sexual assault private detective will be talking about victims of sexual assault and what happened when they reported their rapists to the university officials. Let us get into it.
1. The anonymous victim
In a post made on the University Affairs website, an anonymous lady spoke up about what happened two weeks into the fall semester when she was sexually assaulted. She reached out to the university’s help center, where she received support from a counselor. She still needed to complete her studies but needed accommodations to facilitate that, but the process was challenging. The assistant director requested a doctor’s note to confirm her need for accommodations if she was to receive any help from the university. Two professors were unsympathetic to her plight and required the author to submit all their work on the last day of the term even when she could not meet up. The issue was resolved when she sought help from the ombudsman and human rights office. Nothing is said about her rapist and if they paid for their crime.
2. Hannah Price Case
Hannah Price had spoken about her experience of being raped as a student. Sexual assault and rape go on in so many universities, but they are underreported. So many people do not have adequate knowledge of rape and consent. Hannah Price, in her case, was assaulted by someone she knew. Hannah felt unable to report it because she feared she would not be believed, felt guilty, and blamed herself for being in the position in the first place. She also wondered what would become of her safety and studies in the school that helped her assaulter to walk away free.
3. The Lack of Consent Case
The victim in this case anonymously published her story. She said she was pressured into having sex while in university. In her case, she was at a social event with other students and accepted an offer from a guy to walk her home, thinking it was safer than walking alone. When they arrived at her house, the guy asked to come in and get a glass of water, which she allowed because she did not think anything of it. Soon enough, the guy made inappropriate suggestions and even when the girl said no multiple times, the guy raped her. She never made any reports.
4. lack of evidence case
Working as a sexual assault private detective, there was a student who reported the sexual assault that she underwent. However, the school official asked her for irrefutable evidence to prove her case, which was not available. There were no witnesses that could even corroborate her case, which made the university officials skeptical about her confession. At the end of the day, she never got justice and felt worse than she already was simply because there was no irrefutable evidence.
5. The Overwhelming Case
I have seen a victim of rape who backed out of reporting her rapist simply because she could not relieve the trauma of what she went through, and the process was overwhelming. The investigation felt lengthy and confusing, leaving her feeling traumatized rather than supported. She expressed frustration with the lack of clear communication from the university about what to expect during the proceedings. But, it is in my opinion that if she had forged ahead, her rapist would have paid for their crimes.
